My career goals have been focused on the LGBTQ population working both as president of AGLP: The Association of LGBTQ Psychiatrists and Director of Psychiatry at Callen-Lorde Community Health Center, one of the largest LGBTQ Medical Centers in the world.
My work with patients is more eclectic but the core model I work with is more psychodynamic. Working with various patient populations and diagnoses have led me to be very comfortable prescribing and managing various medications. I also have a great deal of experience working with the transgender and gender non-conforming population (TGNC) conducting evaluations and writing letters for gender marker changes, hormones, and surgical procedures.
My educational background started by being trained at the University of Alabama School of Medicine. After receiving my medical degree, I completed my psychiatry residency at St. Luke's Roosevelt Hospital in New York City. For the first three years of my career I worked at St. Luke's Hospital both as Associate Training Director and as a general outpatient psychiatrist for patients living with chronic and persistent mental illness.
