Professional Statement

I bring a variety of training, interests, and experience to the task of helping others gain understanding and make positive changes in their lives. Having provided therapy on both coasts, raised a family, worked in the corporate world and as a teacher, I am dedicated to serving a diverse community while focusing on personal and relational stress and relief.

I have Master’s Degrees in Education and in Counseling Psychology and have therapeutic experience both in clinical and private practice settings. I have received additional training in Emotionally Focused Therapy and Imago Relationship Therapy, Anger Management, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Parenting, Family Systems, Mindfulness and Relaxation Techniques, Eating Disorders, Recovery from Trauma and Group Therapy.
I am committed to bringing a consistently professional and compassionate stance to clients from all backgrounds in either a long-term psychodynamic approach or short-term, solution-focused therapy. Working with clients to establish goals, I offer support and guidance in increasing insight and altering behavior in order to achieve the desired change.

In choosing this profession, I have combined personal experience with a desire to help others in their areas of greatest need. Everyone brings a story to the session and I am devoted to actively listening and joining with clients in order to build on strengths and help to ease the pain.

Life is not easy, and I have deep respect for the difficult challenges both past and present that inspire you to reach out. But, I am guided by the hopeful belief that we can heal, grow, and change for the better at all stages of life, with a helping hand.
