Professional Statement

Angelica Cullo, LMSW is passionate about using evidence-based therapies and body positive programs to treat eating disorders. Angelica graduated with her Master’s of Social Work from Columbia University School of Social Work (CSSW) where she completed the Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Training Program and was intensively trained at the university and through Behavioral Tech.

Education

Angelica received her bachelor’s degree from Cornell University where she was heavily involved with the mental health community. At Cornell Angelica conducted research on Non-Suicidal Self Injury (NSSI) and the transtheoretical model of change with Janis Whitlock. She was also president of Cornell Minds Matter (CMM), a mental health awareness and advocacy organization that works to reduce the stigma associated with mental illness and seeking treatment. Angelica co-founded the Healthy & Disordered Eating workshop series and was a co-leader for the Cornell University Body Positive TM group program. As a leader of the Body Positive Program, Angelica facilitated interactive sessions with Cornell students that focused on competencies including reclaiming your health, practicing self care, cultivating self-love and re-establishing ideas of beauty that don’t focus on appearance, shape, and weight.

At Columbia University Angelica served as the chair of the Columbia School of Social Work Substance Use & Recovery Caucus and completed her clinical internship at Cognitive Behavioral Consultants of Westchester and Manhattan. During her internship she provided individual CBT and individual and group DBT to adolescents, young adults, and adults struggling with a range of mental health challenges including mood dysregulation, anxiety and depression, suicidality, and eating problems. Angelica also received weekly supervision and training from highly skilled and experienced CBT and DBT clinicians and other mental health clinicians.
