Professional Statement

I specialize in working with young/emerging adults (individuals in their 20's and 30's) AKA 'millennials' - though I am not a fan of the term, as well as with teenagers, and their families. My passion is working with young people as they travel through transitional phases in life. Together we will work to help you to better understand yourself so that you are able to tap into and capitalize on your existing strengths, as well as to discover the internal strengths you never realized you possessed. My goal for our time together is to help you to feel happier and more fulfilled, and for you to emerge stronger and more confident. Whether you are new to therapy or have past experience I will put you at ease by creating a space where you feel comfortable/heard using humor and hope while achieving your goals.

I am experienced in treating issues of anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, poor school/job performance, ADHD, communication barriers, challenging relationships, PTSD, trauma, bipolar disorder, and identity-related issues such as gender, sexual orientation, and race as well as issues affecting the LGBTQI community.

As a former foster parent and current adoptive parent I believe I am uniquely suited to understanding the complexities and challenges of non-traditional and non-biologically based families.

I also specialize in working with people who have experienced difficult or traumatic childhoods. This includes, but is not limited to: survivors of childhood physical, sexual, and/or emotional abuse; people whose parents have a history of anxiety, depression, substance abuse, etc.; people who were bullied as children; people who were in foster care as children; and people who experienced other life stressors during childhood.
